The scale
- Scores run from 1 to 10, to two decimals.
- A score is a position among that day’s scored stocks. A 7.42 means the stock ranks above most of the stocks scored that morning. Compare scores within the same day; a 7.42 today and a 7.42 last week sit in different groups of stocks.
top_pctsays the same thing in words: a stock in the top 29% of the day’s scores hastop_pct29.
The bands
Each score falls in one of five bands, each holding about a fifth of the day’s stocks:The reasons
Each score comes with a one-linesummary and the main points for and against, in plain words, and sometimes things to watch.
When scores are set
Every trading day, our AI agent reads what is knowable about each company, weighs the case for and against, and finishes its scores before the market opens. Each entry carries three times, in US Eastern time:
Once published, a day’s scores don’t change, and everyone gets the same score at the same time. Asking again returns the same answer.
How the scores are graded
Each day’s scores are graded 21 trading days later, by what the market did, after taking out what the market as a whole and common factors explain. The average grade over every graded day is Forward Skill, shown on our home page.Which stocks are scored
About 3,000 US-listed stocks each trading day, covering most of the market by value. Funds, ETFs and other non-equities aren’t scored; ask for one and it comes back undernot_scored.
